Cultural Evidence Of Organism And Specific Antibody Levels Of Past Multocida Carriers In Buffaloes - 1988

Blood samples and laryngeotracheal material of 500 buffaloes, slaughtered at various abattoirs of Lahore, in the month of February, 1988 through June, 1998, were collected and processed for ascertaining carrier condition for Past. Multocida and its effect on the serum antibody levels.

Of the total number of buffaloes examined, the organism was isolated from 23 (4.6 per cent) animals when the laryngeotracheal region was swabbed directly after slauther.

The erum samples from 23 past. Multocida carrier animals were examined for the presence of specific antibodies. Consequently 19 (82.60%) animals proved positive. A similar examination was conducted on sera of 60 non-carrier animals, where, only 5 were found positive. It is hopefully thouth that the findings of this project will provide utilitarian information regarding the role of carriers in epidemiology of HS and its control.
