This book is a study of blood disorders and their underlying mechanisms. Knowledge of blood disorders helps those studying the disease mechanisms of nearly all cellular disorders. In haematology, pathophysiology has the advantage that samples of blood and marrow can be relatively easily obtained. The opening chapters of this textbook review the techniques and terms of cellular and molecular biology and include blood cell formation and the physiology of red blood. The remainder of the book concentrates on haematological disorders, asuch as anaemias, leukaemias, and coagulation disorders, and their treatment. The book is intended for undergraduate medical students, pathologists in training, medical laboratory scientists, haematology, and junior hospital doctors.
